Evolution And Launch

The inaugral vision dynamics be expected at the 2017 "Franks Furt Motor Show", and was built on flexible CLAR  platform rather thana carbon - fibres structure as with the contemporary i-3 and i -8 electric models. The formulation version was revealed at the 2018 "Genva Motor Show" as the BMW.  i-4. A second concept was exposed in March 2020.

At the 2018 Paris Motor Show , BMW confirmed the i -4 would utilize light weight construction to make the model attractive in an electric market weigh down by bulky batteries that reduce on road - handling. However 10 % of the production line is unique to the i -4 especially the machinery involved in building the rear crash structure of high - voltage battery pack into the production process.

Specifications

The production model is based on the modular CLAR  platform to keep costs low and volume production attainable and it is epitomize/described as a battery -powered by  G 20 3 series . The electric motor, transmission and power electronics are all contained , which in a single component , which allows  heigher efficiency.

The  fifth generation eDrive system supports upto 150 kw DC fast charging . The 80 kwh battery pack which weighs roughly 550 kg (1213 lb), can be charged to 80 % in 35 minutes or six minutes for a range of 100 km (62 miles ) . The layout of the high  - voltage battery is fratured by its extremely flat design and refined  energy density.

Sales Details

The fully electric saloon should makes it public appearance sometime in 2020 and is expected to go on sale later 2021 .
